I'd go for the 2.4s on that set up. They are really high volume but offer great cushioning and grip due to being so large. Really good tyre if you can fit them in your bike. Sidewalls on the 2.4s seem a bit tougher than the 2.25s too.

crc seems to do 2 versions, a freeride one, and an xc exception one

is it just different compounds?

Exception versions have a very light carcass that is also a fair bit more fragile. I'd not got for that option (pretty sure you can't get Exception 2.4s anyway)

Exception series types are lightweight, thin sidewall racing type types. They also use a 62a compound although I don't think this is significantly different from the normal compound. Check the web site for fine detail though.

Regular 2.4's here, shame the Pace forks don't take them.
I am yet to ride a tyre I trust more.

just noticed CRC are now listing an 'exo pro' version of the 2.4 advantage

is this like the continental protection tyres i.e. reinforced side walls?

Exo Pro is some kind of sidewall protection.
