Need to replace a Maxle, but I don't really know anything about them (what's to know...?)
So, do I need to know anything more than the fact that it's a 12 x 135 Maxle, and what's a good replacement, please...?

Might need a bit more info... What is the current maxle make ? Are you after one with a lever or a stealth one ?
Have a look on the current one, you might need the thread pitch, i.e. 12x1.5 or 12.x1.75

You also need to know the thread pitch, this is the space between each thread otherwise you could strip the thread in your frame then your ducked.
Also check out the Brand X versions as possible alternatives.
Cheaper and work really well. Stealth versions obvs.
EDIT: And a twist version now I see. Like DT Swiss.
Aren't all Maxle-Lite M12-1.75 (i.e. standard metric coarse, or just plain M12)?

Existing one is a Rock Shox Maxle - no indication of thread pitch, only that it's a 12 x 135.
Is it safer to just replace with another Rock Shox...?
Why do you need to replace it?
Good question - it tightens up fine and the wheel is secure, but the lever then doesn't lock into ace, and just swivels/dangles to the bottom. It's getting on a bit, so just thought I'd replace...
My maxle tightens but approx 180 degrees too far so the locator slot is against the fork

Any idea how to remedy this?
There's a 4 or 5mm can't remember the size bolt in the center behind the lever that you tighten to adjust how firm the lever closes on the older maxle.
Newer style you press the end in and turn it to adjust the position.
Just seen that - thanks ssstu - that's sorted it and saved me a few quid!
