Mavics website states the maximum recommended tyre width for XM317 disc rims is 2.30. This is the same maximum for XM117 rims (I assume as both rims are 17mm) but the XC717 rim (again 17mm width) has a maximum tyre width of 2.10!
So I am thinking of running 2.35 Kenda Nevegals on XM317 rims. Does anyone have an direct experience of running these tyres on these rims or any similar sized tyres?

I've had a 2.25 Ardent on mine with no problems. They're big for their size but I don't know how they compare to Nevegals.

I've ran 2.5 big earls for a while no bother at all.
