Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone is having the same issues I am having with the Mavic Crossride Wheels that are on my 2010 Zesty 314?

I am having an issue mainly with the rear wheel and the centre lock part of it essentially.

The locking ring came loose a couple of weeks back and at the end of a ride I noticed the rotor flapping about

Now it seems when the rear brake is applied on a stanstill you can visibly rock the back and the movement is in the rear hub at the centre lock part, there is definately play in the teeth.

I'm going to take it to my supplying LBS to see what they say but does anyone have any ideas how to solve it apart from a new wheel???

Ta

Pete

I've seen quite a few bkes with centrelock rotors that weren't torqued up correctly thru the shop in the last few months Pete.(Mostly front ones though)
This should be done as part of the PDI process, but a few people are missing this. I reckon they're thinking it's "factory set" at the right torque and it doesn't work loose for a couple of rides, so it's addressed on the 1st service.
Still, not good enough IMO. Everything should be checked. I trust no-one, and check everything when I prep a bike. You pay for a fully prepped bike, you should get one.
It should be sorted by the shop.( If it's the one i'm thinking of, they're good guys and they'll replace it for you. The play is more likely in the disc splines than the hub, so it won't cost them a fortune)
If you want more info, message me on the other site. My forum name is my actual name since the redesign.
Take it easy butt,
Kev.

Cheers Kev

I'm hoping to get back from work early enough tomorrow afternoon to drop it over the mountain to the "cycle medic" 😉 for them to have a look at it.

I'm sure they'll help me out they've been spot on so far so no reason to doubt they won't sort it.

Any probs I'll give you a shout

Tidy Bach

unrhyw argymhellion???

Anghenion i gael canolfan flaen 15mm - cylchoedd yn gobeithio, ond beth ymylon?

Neu fi jyst sbwriel y Mavics????

haha we'll get a telling off soon for communicating in the mother tongue Kev!!! 😉

I was thinking of getting some new wheels though as I'm not convinced these wheels are up to my riding style and I'm a big fella circa 100kg.

Any recommendations???

Needs to have a 15mm front hub - hope hoops, but what rims?

Or I just trash the Mavics????

I had the same problem half way round llandegla black trail. Managed to get around the trail and the kind people at the bike shop tighten it up and its been fine since. its just an external bottom bracket tool. 😛

Ti'n cywyr yn feddwl am hwps. Mae'n olwynion arrtherchog gyda ymylon Stan's Flow. Fi'n credi olwynion yma yn iawn dda i ti.

And the obligatory translation, You're right in thinking about hoops. They're excellent wheels with the Stan's Flow rims. I reckon they'd be good wheels for you.

I'll just add, as it's getting late and I've just found this thread again, and i i can't be bothered to translate the whole reply, if you get a set, drop them in to the shop, or give me a shout, and I'll tension them up to my standard for you (Rowan's race wheel standard) and they're a bargain for just about £300.
If you want coloured hubs, I'll build you set for £350 and they're better than the originals. I've got 5 years World Cup DH data to prove it.
Diolch yn fawr iawn,
Cefyn.
