Thinking of hope hubs with mavic 819 rims and tubeless tyres on my etsx70 what do you think?

I totally rate that rim and hub combo on my Orange 5 with UST high rollers.

Got one on the rear on my Motolite.

819 on Pro 2 with Bonty tubeless ready tyres. Brilliant.

Rode it for many miles on saturday with a slow puncture over some pretty rough ground and, apart from having to top up the air occasionally, I almost didn't notice until the last tarmac bit where things got a bit draggy. Seal stayed intact despite getting down to very low pressures.

I've the same combo, over a years use now, with over 4k on the clock plus the occasional days DHing, I've only just chanced the bearings, the rims are fine!

819's are great rims

MEGA stiff, full UST compatability. My only criticism is they're not especially light or wide... But for an XC rim they're indestructible...

I've the same setup as Stuartie_c and agree its a great combination, though I am noticing the Bonty rubber seems to be degrading quicker than any other tyre I've owned.

819s on DT 240s, DT Comp spokes.

I ran the MUD X tubeless ready.

It didn't really work for me. The tyre would not seat properly and would burp and go down quite quickly. A major hack-off when you're out for a ride.

I was thinking, although its a slightly heavier rim than my X717s, I'd be better-off overall as I'd save on not having a tube. Especially when combined with a sub 600g tyre such as the MUD X.
Only the MUD X didn't want to play.

I could use a full UST tyre, but they seem to be more expensive than non-UST tyres and appear to weigh more. This, then pretty much cancelling-out any weight reduction I thought I'd enjoy, going tubeless.

Friend of mine went the stan's route. I think if I had my time again, I'd have gone for X717s and just Stan'd them up.

819s seem to be a good, tough rim, I can't knock'em so far.

Red Pro2s on 819s here. Great rims. Great hubs.

Hope Hoops with Flow rims - wider and better tyre profile.

Agree with SV- Im looking at a lighter new rim. The 819 just seems to handicap itself everyway it turns. You want a light rim? 717. You want a strong rim for harder riding? Its too narrow and would pinchflat.

Tubless? You still need take etc.

Its a jack of all trades but...?.....

Flows do seem the way. Or just buy a 717 if you don't need tubeless. IMO.
