[#5016719]

A spoke pulled out of the rim today taking the head off the eyelet with it.

How easy is it to remove the rest of eyelet from the rim now it's snapped flush with the rim? Any tips?

Anyone know where I can get a couple of spare eyelets sjs do them but charge a fiver for postage.

Assume you mean the threaded inserts 819s use, rather than eyelets, which they don't have. I'd try a decent lbs, suspect you may have fun and games though!

Yes, the threaded eyelet thingy. Might try and cut a slot so I can get a screwdriver in it.

With no spoke in there it may not be that tight, have you tried with a large torx or anything? You're supposed to loctite them, builder may not have done though!

Remember it's a left-hand thread when you try to remove it. I've got a few spare, e-mail me your adress and i'll send you a couple.

without the head of the eyelet and supposing the building loctited them, you may have to resort to very carefully sawing it out.

A tap that's a bit too big for the hole(thus may snag) may help with removal, not had to try it, but should work in theory.

No, been busy with DIY and riding other bikes. I've got the spare bits now thanks to coatesy so may try early next week.

Heat, torx bit and remember it a left hand thread. They come out easily enough.

I used a dremel router bit and collapsed the thread. easy enough - the dremel unscrewed them due to the reverse thread. lbs should be able to flog you replacements.

quick update.

all came out easily enough although part of the insert had dropped into the rim and needed careful jiggling about to get it to the point I could force a torx bit into it and unscrew it out of the rim.

New one went in fine (thanks coatesy!) with some threadlock on it and the spoke and nipple were undamged so I reused them. Quick true and it's all good ๐Ÿ™‚
