So, moving from SS to geared...
Front rim is XC717 disc.
Never had any issues with 717's, but anything else I should be considering?
XC only - light and strong but not too fussed about tubeless as this time.
Stans Crest are lighter and wider than XC717 disc rims, (~340g vs. ~395, 21mm internal vs. 17mm)
717s are sturdy but a wee bit weighty for the job they're designed for... But I'd not be in a hurry to replace them if they're not giving you any trouble.
If you're buying new rims anyway get Stans, either Crests or Alpines, but I'd probably not replace for the sake of it.
If you're feeling flush take a look at the new pacenti tl28 available from just riding along slightly heavier than crests but lighter than xz717 but with a 23mm internal width . I emailed them to ask aboit strength and apparently the guy's been hammering them on an intense slopestyle of a few months so should be a great all-rounder, they're even eyletted.
