Trying to buy a lightweight pair of XC wheels and would appreciate some advice about what's available at the mo. Most I can stretch to is probably the cost of Mavic 717 rims on XT hubs from Merlin. Riding is strictly XC - 'jeycore' even 🙂
Any advice, please?

Stan Crests with Hope 2 hubs will be a good choice!

Xt hubs be aren't that light. I'd check superstar components and on-one first.

thats a good set of wheels that is.
hubs wont have a lot of grease in them, they come from the factory with barely a smear, get them pumped full of nice grease early on and they will last ages.
couple of my mates have had wheels from merlin, no problems.
