[#10181959]

I just got a new Marzocchi Transfer for what seemed like an agreeable £200.

(Start fitness were cheapest .. not someone i've ever ordered from before but cheaper than I could find elsewhere)

After installing the post has some play... quite possibly not enough for me to worry if it doesn't get any worse but I hadn't expected a Fox - Marzocchi to have this... I guess its about 1mm at the seapost clamp... which is about 0.99mm more than my Thomson....

If this is normal I'll try it and see if its noticeable when riding but if this is a sign of more developing or abnormal then I'll probably want to return with no signs of riding... (The fact its greased and has been inserted will doubtless be an argument but you can't really tell until its firmly clamped)

Anyone got one or the Fox ???

My fox transfer was definitely on the upper end for play compared to other posts I've used but had got no worse in 18 months of solid use.

MY Fox Transfer also had a bit of play when new but it never got any worse over the year I used it.  Had it serviced at Silverfish and it came back with no wobbble at all and had been like that ever since.  Just keep an eye on it and get it warranty serviced if it gets worse.

Cheers,

Sounds like something will only annoy me if I let it... a bit annoying really but I'm comparing it to the Thomson and neither mine nor Jnr's has any discernible play at all...whereas this is closer to my old reverb

however if it's not going to get worse then I'll do was milky said and keep an eye on it...

Aren’t all droppers notorious for having ever so slight play due to the workings of it?

Both Thomson's I can't tell if its real or imaginary.... I thought mine had a tiny amount until I checked the saddle clamps...  that said I was riding it and hadn't really noticed...it perhaps does say something about the claims of precision engineering about Thomson though???

I guess the "annoying" part is when you pick the bike up and you feel "something".... check the suspension, headset etc. then it turns out to be the seat post 😀

If it doesn't get any worse then I really doubt it would affect my riding but just that "oh something feels loose" feeling?
