I have r55's and when adjusting (installing/tightening) the axle the "lever" never lines up with the forks (sorry for lack or pic quality but you get the idea...)
I've had a look and it appears as though it makes no difference where you start from when you push the axle through as the tightening bite point is always the same. The hex bolt at the end of the bar also does nothing (just turns).
So, I was thinking about getting a 20mm o-ring of some description and sliding this onto the axle and hopefully resulting in the lever being a little more in-line when fully tightened.
This might only be asthetics (sp?) but I can't help wondering if I leave it as-is then at some stage its going to catch a root or something and it'll be goodnight vienna...
Does the o-ring sound like a good idea or am I missing something??
assuming you have the 2009 55R then they have the 20mm QR Torque Axle
which means you can simply keep turning them round (you'll hear repeated clicks) to the preferred position
I did read somewhere that you could keep tightneing them, I was just a bit scared to do so in case I jiggered something...
You think it would be OK then to give it some more welly then? and yes these are the 2009 55R
yes keep turning, you get a loud click and bobs your uncle you're in line.
Nice one guys, many thanks. Will give it a go.
Yep, as above. Mine was pretty tight when new but soon loosened up after a few wheel removals. There should already be an 'o' ring on the lever end - grease this a little - it may help.
Thanks also MD. I've not actually checked if there is already an o-ring on there, just being a bit cautious up to now to not over-tighten.
I've not really thought about what effect over tightening might have had, it just seemed like a bad thing to do!! However sounds as though the design is way ahead of me (not difficult ๐
