Hi Guys- I have a set of 2008 Marzocchi 55 TST2's which won't travel their full 160mm- rather are restricted to 80mm.

I know this is a common occurance in 55's - so I wondered if anyone had any success in stripping them down & reparing them at home?

A more detailed diagnosis:

Stiction- lots of it on the initial down stroke.
Travel- only 80mm.
Oil Leaks- Not that I can see.
Air leaks- not as far as I am aware. Have checked over 24hrs and seems to hold preload air just fine.
Stantion condition- perfect, no scratches or other nasties.

Is the TST2 Lockout on- no, dialed fully open.

Other odd happenings- when you go to pump air into the fork, I get to around 10psi and the stantions suddenly 'jump' about 1/2 inch... which is odd.

Can someone advise whether this would be a possible home fix or is it time to admit defeat and call windwave?

oil may have leaked from the damper cartridge to the bottom of the fork. Its the usual reason for this sort of issue but I don't know this particular fork

Usually a simple o ring that has failed

No experience of home repairs on TST 2's - Windwave were replacing the TST lockout unit as standard under warranty of couple of years back. I ran a pair and the only way I could get the required level of travel was with about 20psi in them (and I'm only about 12 st).

Righto- managed to book them in with a local (ish) Marzocchi Serivice centre this afternoon.

They told be not to worry- they knew exactly what was up (nice of them not to tell me though...), book it in for service and it'll be back next week all fine and dandy. Good thing too as I'd planned to sell the bike, I guess the new owner will benefit from this more than I shall. 🙄
