My god, did you see his sprint tonight? Incredible! I am surprised that bike didn't break.

From 600m back too. Not seen him launch that early and succeed. Roll on Sunday!

Bradley Wiggins has started paying his debts. I suspect we know what Sky will be doing on Sunday.

Think I wanted that win more than him!!! to do what he has this tour to assist Wiggins and team sky sacrificing his own specialist discipline shows what a team player and gentleman he is.l like many thought a few stage wins bail out at end of week one go home and prepare for Olympics, I say if he bags Sunday stage and Olympic gold he will be right up there with Wiggins achievement.top bloke!!!

Almost brought a tear to my eye. It was a really inspirational and heartwarming gesture to see Wiggins leading out Cavendish after all his hard work. It was also nice to see Wiggins wait for Cadel after the tyre puncture incident. Real gents, and nice to see when you compare to the win at all costs attitude of football(and other sports)

Indeed. Let's hope they're not all doped up to the eyeballs as it seems every cyclist in the last 30 years was.....

I'm sure Cav's rainbow jersey was was blue shifted in the head on shots of that sprint!

Always heart lifting to see a little cynicism added to a positive thread. Were you one of the press pack the first day Bradley took the yellow jersey? I think his comments said it all really.

Stage winner, each jersey winner and random sample of riders are dope tested every day...nuff sed.

Yes i too think Sky's team orders played a part !,however a mega sprint !,& a well deserved result.

Cycling strategy seems a lot like tht of F1,& Sky seem to have a Ross Braun in the camp!,& it works ..

As for the sprint, loved how the Spanish rider next to Roche saw the Missile pass by and simply surrendered. He stopped peddling!

Do you ever actually post any positive or useful comments?

Back on topic, it was an awesome show of power by Cavendish, especially when they say he's lost a bit of speed!
The way Sky are riding, I can't imagine anything but two more stage wins for them and a gold for Team GB at the Olympics.

Amazing to watch. Cav said in the interview afterwards that he'd begged team management to give him a chance in the sprint after they'd said it was going to be a day of taking it easy. Room must have been a bit dusty when that interview was on!

Guess you never listened to his interview with Ned then?

the leaders had stopped pedalling before he passed which made it look so good.

Sporting behaviour from Wiggins, stark contrast to Cancellara attacking Schleck when his chain dropped last year - and many thinking that was OK.

Contador, nor Cancellara. And to be fair, that was due to rider error (Schleck's done this before), not a mechanical due to bad luck.

No they hadn't, they stopped pedalling once they see him speed past.

Really? I think he's very articulate.

Was he just a bit out of breath maybe?

Sorry Klnuk, that's the one.

Lifer, I was going from what Roche said when interviewed last night, or what I thought he said!

what it is is that some times when people are answering a question they seem to pitch there voice and the end of the sentance like they are asking you a question, if you know what I mean, but other than that top fella, top team

I think us Kiwis invented that (??)

I have trained myself out of it, in order to better assimilate myself with the local population.

But back to Mark Cavendish - that was a canny move I think, timing it for when they reached the remnants of the break-away, who would have hindered any attempt to chase by the other teams. Awesome display !!!

Tactically perfect from the Sky boys too. They waited until the last moment to stop Griepel team making a sprinter train as they had one from his team at the front of the break away group. But Cav certainly living up to his nickname the missile! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

done to death but cheating bertie [Contador] won the TdF that year by the exact time he made up on that stage...you dont attack a rival having a bike related issue as it is just not the done thing...its why he got booed that day on the podium.

I am not sure you can ever say a chain dropping is deffo user error rather than bad luck either but it is a bad way to win the tour and you should win it due to your legs

Yeah. Shitloads.

Seems like everyone else can get away with it. Why not me?
I happen to think It's fabulous what the Brits have done this year, but I'm also a fan of Lance Armstrong too, but you can't mention his name on here without all and sundry telling you how wrong you are

Guess I was just getting my own back.

Was utterly fantastic to watch, absolutely brilliant stuff.

Anyone who thinks Wiggins in particular is doping should read his article in the Guardian last Saturday:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2012/jul/13/bradley-wiggins-dope-drugs

Of course, anyone can write anything and it doesn't make it true but I can't imagine anyone doping writing an article like that ^^

Given we now know Bertie was doped to the gills at the time, I think 'chaingate' is the least of the issues there.

On a related note, I'm getting a bit pissed of with what appears to be mainly US contributors to roadie forums whining on about how boring the tour is this year, and bemoaning the lack of Contador or Schleck to 'animate' the GC battle, while conveniently ignoring the reality that one is now a convicted doper and the other one is suspect, the moreso now that his brother's 5k training plan from Dr Fuentes appears to have included some pharmaceutical assistance.

The birds eye view showed off the incredible turn of speed as came past. Amazing ride!
