I have a Swinger 3 way which is about 4 years old and never had any TLC apart from a drop of shock oil on the slider after a wet ride...
it had begun to get a bit sticky in its operation
I managed to open it up last night after a few choice words having exhausted the bruit force in a vice and strap wrench approach wound up using a pair of brand new Irwin Vise Grips (last ditch option before i ordered a new shock) which did surprisingly little damage (just 2 tooth marks in the air can and no deformation internally) 🙂
cleaned the internals out with some IPA and applied some judy butter to the piston and seals
but couldn't find any listings for the amount of "float" oil to put in the air can it had some in when i opened it up (which was knackered black sludge like consistency)
got a bottle of red rum which i'm sure would be ok to use but how much should I slop in? Take it some needs to be put at each side of the piston?
