Doing this with a mate in a few weeks. Anyone else on here doing it? Done it once before on a road bike but this time I'm on my carbon 456. Got some faster rolling tyres to help a bit - small block 8s - so hopefully I won't die. Also converted back to 2x9 from 1x9 to help with the hills. Not done a lot of training so slightly concerned about my lack if fitness.

Rode it on a rockhopper in 09, great fun! You'll be fine on an mtb but you'd be better off running a 26" road tyre, at least some thing with a solid centre tread like a landcruiser.

it's very flat so 1x9 will be fine - I did it on a fixed gear and didn't suffer apart from the headwind for the last section
set off early, gets very traffic jammed....
