Had a fun ride on some of the less well known Malvern trails today. It was manic out on the ridges and all the car parks were more than overflowing. So we stayed on the south end and mixed it up with a few cheeky trails.

Oi, stop stroking my new bike!

Recognise that landmark? ๐Ÿ™‚

First ride of the ST4 was very good. Except for my forlorn hope that running one new chain, two new rings and one old cassette would provide perfect shifting ๐Ÿ˜‰ Even tho this is at least a couple of pounds heavier than my HT, can't say I noticed it really. Climbs well, finds traction, eats up the lumpy bits.

Really noticable having a FS here over the frozen ruts, and if that's cheating, I'm all for it ๐Ÿ™‚ Downhill as good as I remember but I was right about it needing a shorter stem and wider bar. Just ordered 710mm of bar love and a 70mm stem.

I was enjoying the ride so much, I sort of forgot about the bike. I think that's a pretty good endorsement. Still if I keep buying bits for it, I'll be able to build the old HT up by stealth!

Good start to 2010, more rides like that please ๐Ÿ™‚

South end is definitely nicer in many ways than the North end - shame it's that much more effort to get to (though that probably explains a lot of the reason why it's nicer).

Recognize the landmark? I have a fairly good idea where the photo was taken from (having planned an orienteering event on there I know that bit pretty well!)

Went up the Wyche Cutting and Worcester Beacon on Monday, and my god was it busy up there!

Might have to go do some exploring down the south end myself sometime, though living in Worcester it's much easier to get to the North...

Hello Pepper. Not "the" Pepper is it from my old Chiltern Days? Camp? that's our best hardcore ๐Ÿ™‚

I live on the South side so the Beacon is quite a trek from Midsummer/Chase end. Great trails that way for night riding. Not at the weekend/holiday ever. Waaaaay to busy. Some ace stuff over that way though.

No definitely not worth the trip.

Local trails for local people.

Stumpy - I'd say so. There's not endless forest singeltrack (but there is some good stuff if you know where to look), lots of climbing, some flat out descending, ace views, some quite rocky stuff over the north side and a few exposed descents. I started riding here after living in the Chilterns and it was quite a shock to the system.

If you fancy a ride sometime. drop me a mail (mail in profile) and I'm sure I can sort out some guiding. Otherwise Back on Track in Malvern have some routes.

Actually, aracer is right ๐Ÿ™‚
