Hello,
Just checking before I attempt to service them myelf (2009 During Race if that makes any difference)
Is the Magura Blood fork oil any different from the conventional fork oil I buy lots of for cheap from my local motorbike shop (and mix and match to get different weights, ie, mostly 10wt with a bit of 5wt in it)? Or am I heading down the route of mineral oil/DOT fluid disaster?
Can I put Silkolene oil in my Maguras?
Cheers.
Quick bump before things apart...
I always use regular stuff from a motorbike shop for my Magrura Phaons. The good stuff ('race' or synthetic) rather than the cheapest, still only £1.50 for a service. Never had a leak or a sticky seal
just standard fork fluid will be fine, 15wt for lowers lubrication and 5wt-7.5wt for the damping should do you fine
Thanks guys. Lets hope it works.
I've got the 'posh' stuff, big bottle I've had for ages, about £10 for 500ml, but still way cheaper than the £8.99 the LBS want for 250ml. Supporting my LMBS...
I'd had quite a bit of stiction running lower weight (20wt) oil in the lowers. Its supposed to be 30wt for the lowers officially, although fox float fluid seems to be working very well so far.. and not too expensive if you buy the 8oz bottle.
Seems to be OK so far, and I've only gone for 10wt. But then I'm only little so don't like them too stiff...
Magura Blood is brake fluid innit?
I'm using Fox Float fluid in the lowers of my Durins which is apparently 40wt gear oil. Seems to work very well although I use more than 2.5 ml more like 10ml.
I think Mags use 5wt for damping as standard but I'm told 7.5 slows them down a bit.
i just use normal fork oil in my phaons and they've been beltin
