This is a quick question on the operation of Magicshine Lights rather than the ordering.....

I've just got a MJ-836 through and when I first plugged it in the Battery Status LED was flashing red even thought he battery indicator was half full. I've given it a full charge and it's still flashing?

Any ideas why this would happen? Is it that the status indicator needs to be calibrated by running the battery down?

Cheers

No point contacting DX, all they'll tell you to do is ask elsewhere for help as they wont know.

Does the light actually work?
Are you able to test the voltage off the pack?
It could just be a faulty led!

Oh, dont run down Li-ion.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The light works fine, I used it last night with the battery only dropping one bar after an hour.

The status led did change to blue when I left it plugged in with the light off, as soon as the light was turned on the status went back to flashing red. I have contacted DX customer support, but as yet no reply.

I'll just keep on using it and it might calibrate itself?

Webbo,

Fully discharge the battery and then give it a full charge, this should reset the fuel gauge. If the battery has tripped this can wipe out the reference data for the leds. discharging and charging will reset the data again.

If the problem still occurs, it is either a faulty fuel gauge or battery. Also make sure the charger is actually charging the battery.

If the problem persists and you have no joy from DX send me an email and I will see what I can do to it for you.
