Anyone know if there are any good ways down back into the village now that the trees have been felled? There used to be a good techie bit down through the woods but I'm assuming it's all gone now?

As far as I am aware it's all gone now, but I havent been up those neck of the woods in ages.
One of the trails I liked was the public footpath that ran diagonally down from the foot of the steep bit of the mountain into the village. They'd have to restore that at least, I imagine.
The DH tracks have all been logged. They'll probably be back one day.
I think I'll head up there this afternoon, I'll report back.
Well I headed for the footpath on the souths side, and it was fine up until the start of the felling which brought it to an abrupt stop. I did however find a couple of the well established unofficial trails still in tact, so there is still a way off the mountain down that side. I was also able to traverse underneath the felled area and come out in Machen.
I'll post up a GPX tomorrow.
