I need some bolts for my brake mount adapter - are they M6 sizing 20mm?

They are M6 but the length will depend on what make of brakes & what adaptor your using. You want at least 10mm of thread to go into the mount IS or PM

Yup, I think my 2 bikes have 20mm, 18mm and 15mm in various places on the brakes. 20mm probably works with most though.

It's for XT calipers, I'll crack out the ruler and measure the thread properly.
Just wanted to check and make sure it was M6.

IIRC a threaded bolt reaches its maximum shear strength when it's been inserted to a depth equal to its diameter.
