Has anyone ever had a small hard lump on their testicle? Please tell me this can be caused through cycling and isnt necessarily a sign of you know what. A trip to the docs is on the cards either way. ๐Ÿ™

Like Tails says, GP tomorrow. Certainly this week.

My small hard lump was a nasty little tumour. Much easier to sort out now rather than later but much much better to find out it's just a lump and there is only one way to be sure of that.

All the best, good luck etc.

Sorry stuart i didn't mean thread closed more "thread closed" as really the only way to know is to see your doctor, no one on STW can give you a definite answer, and it's just not worth gambling on.

my nasty little lump turned out to be a cyst. Very impressed - GP appointment one day, ultrasound 2 days later, consultant screened and meeting a week after that, all clear in under 10 days.

It felt like a long 10 days though.....

Seriously. Don't **** about waiting for a load of mountain bikers to give you 'second opinions'. Go and see someone who might know something about it. That piece of advice is free and might save your life.

mine turned out to be garden peas that I forced into little holes that I made in my scrotum, and then forgot about.

Same as theotherjonv - I spent weeks panicking over teh big C and putting off going to the docs and when I finally did go ultrasound showed it up being a benign cyst.

Seriously dude, docs, but also relax, it might be nothing!

I think I'm right in saying that a recent Austrian study showed that a significant percentage of mountain bikers had calcium deposits and/or cysts in their scrotum (all the bashing about). So don't get too stressed before you've seen a specialist - and do that as soon as possible!
NB. I'm a writer not a doctor...

Thanks guys. Good to get some opinions from ppl with experience. The obvious GP course of action will be followed as im going to the emergency surgery wednesday morn. Going to see how the lump is in the morning and through tomorrow. Certainly not going to leave it any longer though as i've a baby boy that needs his father! Thanks again.

Don't worry too much, if you are looking the web for information then treatment in the UK is very different to treatment in the US so filter sites accordingly. In the unlikely event that it is nasty then early diagnosis means greater than 95% survival rates.

Same here, discovered small hard lump, went to docs ASAP.
Turned out to be a cyst, "very common in cyclists" said the doc.

Stuart get it checked out and if still in doubt insist on a scan. I had testicular cancer 14 years ago which was not detected by my GP. I insisted on a scan as I'd had experience (close family member) of late diagnosis and felt that a scan was the only way to be sure.

1 week later I had the lump removed was told all was ok, one week later as told I had tesitular cancer and went back in and had on teste removed, chemo, radiotherapy and further surgery.

As i say that was 14 yar ago an dall is now fine.

Thats a harrowing story leftboy. Bet you were well pi**ed off. Hope all is well now. I suppose it depends on the GP. I was examined a few years ago and the GP got embarassed and giggly! when feeling my nadgers. Fortunately my new local GP's seem to have the patients interest at heart.

Steve - Afraid I dont know you well enough ๐Ÿ™‚ and my wife may have an issue with me posting a willy pic on the net lol.

Dave V - Hope i get the same outcome as you. Wont hold my breath though as i have swelling and pain too ๐Ÿ™

I had a Cyst removed 6 years ago,"Epydydimal Cyst" was the diagnosis, due to deposits building up in the tubes around your balls basically.Doc said that I could have just left it there but it unnerved me.But as all the other lads said,go get it checked out.No docs on here so far & I am a bloody sales rep ! ๐Ÿ˜€

Where is the pain? I had testicular cancer about 13 years ago and had pain in my groin before I had it off. Chemo and op and now brand new, never fitter and never felt better.

On the plus side you do get nice lotion put on yer sac and rubbed in by a nurse without having to pay for it

Get a scan - insist.

I've a lump downstairs that makes one ball appear bigger, but the scan showed that it's a cyst on the tube next to it. It's still a bit unnerving and can be uncomfortable so I sympathise with shinsplints.

Probably all yours is but do do do get a scan.

Same as Shinsplints, I've a cyst in the epidydimis which can be sore but was told having it out would just make things worse down there. I've had it checked out, not worried about it anymore.

It was a laugh having a consultant with the thickest South African accent I ever heard discussing my "epidydimis" and "Ibuprofen" ๐Ÿ˜†

shinsplints - Mine seems to be right on the testicle but having studied human physiology I believe the epidydimis sort of wraps around the one end of the testicle so it could be that.

scottishcyclocross - The pain is when i touch the lump or my leg rubs against it when walking. No groin pain so far. Think i will insist on a scan.
