Lyriks playing up a bit and one thing it could be is too much oil in them, looked at the service guide etc and wondering if you can check oile levels without removing the 2-Step valve as I don't have a valve remover.
If I don't remove the valve will it explode?

I would advise not touching the 2-step system yourself. It is notoriously unreliable and all parts of it have to be working perfectly, if they aren't, the fork doesn't do what it should. Send them back to Fisher (via the place you purchased them) if they are still under warranty, if not, pay to have them checked/serviced by your lbs or RockShox service centre
