They aren't great in my experience. My 2-Steps, despite being serviced regularly, crept in their travel and were a general ball ache..I wouldn't fancy them again unless they've changed since 09 model..

same ass jambo....

when i first had them they refused to travel down completely. this got worse till i was set at 160mm.

sent them back and they did the opposite; they wouldn't return to full travel.

u-turn kit costs about 40-50 quid (guessing... cost me ~€50) and is an eaasy job to do.....

much better fork when coil sprung.

if you've found a decent deal then do it, but price in the u-turn kit.

On the other hand, Iv had two pairs now and really rate them, the internals have been changed since 09 and yes they need servicing every year (ish) to make sure they remain fully functional.

I would not say I am soft on forks, I have ridden them extensively over the last three years, to change them to coil is an easy bolt in job takes 15mins.

the last service was need after 18months and could have gone longer

Dont be afraid of them, but if you dont need the functionality of 2-step go coil, for me the increased service interval is more than paid off by the one flick travel adjust.

PS Matt Holland will service them for minimal expense (under £50)

I've had both 2-step air with Motion Control damping and UTurn coil with Mission Control damping - My 2 steps had to go back under warranty within a month of having them but after that they were the best RS forks Ive owned - I really didnt like the U-Turn coils in comparision.

The new Dual Position Air is meant to be much better, it uses a hydraulic system to compress the fork down I believe.

I had 2step Lyriks and they were great. The spring felt great, the travel adjust was great, the damping was great, they were stiff and light enough. Then the travel adjust broke. Twice. First time fishers replaced the 2step second time I had a choice of new spring, I went for the dual position air as the travel adjust lever works in the same 90deg twist. Now they are much better the DPA spring is much smoother than the 2step, I am presuming this is because the air volume is larger.

The 2step is hydraulic and the DPA is pnumatic (sic)
