Any experiences?
43 in a couple of weeks which I believe puts me in 'A', happy to take my chances but might go up to group 'B' to test the water.
What can I expect in comparison to BC 4th cat circuits?
Will watch this thread with interest. Thinking about doing one of these this season. It think the A is fiercely competitive with some tasty riders, think I would try the B first.
When I was younger a couple of the older blokes in my club used to ride them. They said it was very sociable compared to 'normal' road races (until the last few miles!!).
And now, I am that older bloke....!!
It sounds more my thing tbh, so would probably go 'B' just to check it out first.
Club AGM tomorrow & will probably nail my colours to the mast!
Have you earmarked any event in particular? I may be up for it as well.
I joined lvrc last season. A lot seems to depend on your region. I'm south east and consequently events seemed to sell out almost instantly on RiderHQ. Consequently i didn't ride a single event. So i haven't renewed and will continue with BC.
Expect at least 4th cat pace, probably faster, with proper racing tactics - breakaway attempts and riders working together. Also expect to be shouted at if you can't handle a bike in a tight bunch. Those gems are from my veterans BC racing. I imagine lvrc is the same.
In LVRC you'll be mixing it with some very strong riders, ex pros, masters world champions, and other very decent riders. Racing will therefore be safer but harder than a 4th cat race. Most races my way are either designated flat or undulating which is a bit frustrating, but I suppose as riders over 70 take part they can't make them too hard. Fifty miles is usual for A/B/C's and a bit less for the older categories. I got a bit frustrated with LVRC because of the boring nature of the circuits used and coming from the 'cross I found the whole road racing thing a bit unfriendly by comparison. Expect lots of fancy machines with higher levels of disposable income meaning top end bikes everywhere.
If you are a 4th cat I'd try a DEFG race first then an ABC race.
Nothing earmarked as yet, had potential BC or LVRC races on 22nd March but away that weekend so neither are doable.
Will be quite happy Riding close, two top five finishes at 4th this month & don't mind being shouted at if I deserve it! Would be happy to hang on and finish in the bunch early on, take it from there I guess.
Region 6 I think, West Mids...
Club has a few riders in LVRC, coupled with me not getting any younger it makes it a big draw for me,.
Will obviously talk a little more to our guys but also interested in some general experiences.
Cheers all so far...
Generalization? Faster than 4th cat racing, a lot of experienced clever racers, there will be 40 year old 1st cats and ex pros.
No points on offer (except series events) so no one racing 40 minutes not to be a 4th cat, just racing for the sake of racing.
Lots of events, including some interesting stuff.
Not as rules and regs as BC, more look after each other and get on with it.
cat D this year hoping for a bit of a slow down?
Sounds good, a bit more civilised going forward?
Some interesting LVRC racing. Riders break just after 2 minutes, see why at just after 3.

Thought it was localish as I noticed one or two familiar jerseys, it's the Omloop from last year.
