Apologies for the length of this - dunno how much detail is needed. I have a Lupine Nightmare with the bottle pack battery which is some years old now but has been used only a handful of times at 24hr events. A few years ago something failed and I sent it back (fortunately to a mate in a bike shop who I got it from) to be returned with a new charger. I've used it maybe once since and it lasted about 30 seconds which I assumed was because I hadn't actually recharged it when I thought I had - but in hindsight it hadn't been left on charge as recommended in the manual so I guess it just discharged. Since then it has been sitting in its bag doing nothing for probably 3 years. I came to try it last night and after charging overnight, it seems the battery has zero capacity left, which is all very annoying having hardly ever used it.
What are my options? Looks like around £85 for a new battery for which I could probably buy a new light - has anyone had experience of a Lupine and their batteries? is it worth replacing the battery or shall I move on?
it's a tricky one really, if you're only going to use them irregularly then anythign with a rechargeable battery is going to struggle if you just leave it in between times.
they're good lights but a bit outdated.
If it were me I'd be looking to maybe move the Lupine on to someone to use as a helmet mounted light and buy a new light.
there's some good value lights here all terrain cycles if you want soemthign uk sourced or there's dx lights from HK.
Hi is it a Nimh or lithium ion battery? If Nimh send it to http://www.cellpacksolutions.com/ to rebuild it they done mine for £40 and put higher capacity batteries in.
Hi Jimmy,
If you want to send me you're battery to see if it is recoverable at all then please email me (in profile)
The battery will continue to discharge.even when not in use as the protection cicuit will drain it, only a few milliamps but over time. It can mount up even below the cut off voltage level of the circuit.
Thanks Stinky99.
