[#10189792]

I have a wee bottle of the silicone lube that Hope recommend for their brake pistons and wondered if it can also be used for Shimano brakes.?

Another bike with shimano brakes has some slow returning pistons and I wondered if this might help.?  If it can't be used then is there an alternative or should shimano brake pistons not be lubed.?

I am otherwise very happy with the brakes, firm lever feel, not at all spongy, pistons do retract so that there is no brake rub but it just takes a few seconds, so i'd be reluctant to go to the bother of a bleed if I can help it.

I've used that as well on some Shimano brakes.

It should be fine,  I've also used some brake fluid when I couldn't find the silicone stuff 🙂

Cool, thanks for that..  Looks like pouring rain tomorrow so I'll probably get to them ...  🙂

Obviously, you need to use the correct brake fluid for your brakes. For Shimanos, that will be a mineral oil, not DOT fluid.

Strip the levers and lube the master piston with silicon
