Morning,

Off to the Lakes for a week on friday- staying in Loweswater.

Any route advice for the area?

Cheers

P

very handy for whinlatter, or if you want natural stuff then lots of things in borrowdale / skiddaw area but i can never remember the exact routes so hopefully someone like SFB will be along in a bit...

He might even have stuff in that area on the bogtrotters website

there's loads on your doorstep there, loweswater terrace a short 8km ride along route ride along shoreline up bway pst the fram at the end continue up on bway then take the left fork after the top gate and follow bway along the terrace and back down to start lovely little ride. can take the bway up by thekirkstyle inn and then either into buttermere or over into ennerdale from their ld go over black sail and back around or over stakes pass (i think) back into butterme. there is a route up through lanthwaite woods then there i s re classified bway that runs north alo a wall to lorton and from there up to whinlatter.

could go over honister pass and own to grange past castle cragg back up past ashness bridge to watendlath and down to rossthwaite thn climb over the pass again there is bw right off the top to the left of fleetwith pike.

there is a good selection of cheely stuff around there as well

hope that helps

Karnali means 'Scarth Gap' pass not 'stakes' if going from ennerdale to buttermere, quite technical ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lots to do that isn't obvious on maps. Mail me a postal address and I'll post you a highlighted OS map copy, or can describe it when I shouldn't be working. May be up for night ride too if you fancy (I live there and have spare lights). Don't leave it too late to discover the beer in the Kirkstile Inn, if that's your thing.

Totally cheeky but brill : From loweswater take the route up through lanthwaite woods to lanthwaite green. Then go up gasgale gill path to coledale hause(60-70%)rideable(its has one difficult section, you've got to scramble up a couple of rock steps). From Coledale head south climbing still to the col between Grasmoor and Wandope then across to Whiteless Pike. Then down whiteless breast.*This is all rideable but very technical and steep and should really only be attempted if your confident in your abilities*. Its a absolute scream one of the best in the lakes IMO. Then head down the back of rannerdale knotts and out onto the road then back through lanthwaite woods and home. Top ride.

Second that, though I'd dispute 60-70% of Gasgale Gill being rideable! More like 20%, theres a great bit of singletrack in the middle, but it's a bitch of a climb!

More thanks Guys...

I definately won't be missing the beer- going with a couple of my friends, one of which is a master brewe, and the cottage has been chosen for its proximity to the pub...

Boxelder- dropped you an email.

That would depend on your climbing ability though surely? For us it's 60-70%. Up to the rock step is mostly doable in the dry with some on off obsticles and short carries. The flatter middle section which is about 1.5km is all rideable(the majority of the climb) then you have to carry the last 200m onto coledale. From Coledale hause to whiteless is all rideable ๐Ÿ˜‰
