Since starting turbo training and watching my calories with the ‘lose it’ my cycling fitness has come on leaps and bounds.

Just loving being out on whichever bike I’m out on - road bike for commuting and either the Sentinel or Marino for mtb.

I’ve gone from 84kgs and maybe 225ftp to 75kgs and currently 244ftp at the last ramp test but I think the next one should see a further small increase.

Just back from work and the 14km ish commute mostly on cycle track - finding I can hold an average 90+ cadence all the way up the very slight gradient out of Bristol and just have power to burn vs any other time I’ve been cycling.

Hoping I can avoid injury and continue - I don’t think I can lose much more weight whilst maintaining some upper body muscle but I think there’s more power to find. Just limited by family time / work / life in general I guess.

That’s all really - just buzzing for cycling all the time now - especially as it’s lighter in the mornings / evenings and a bit less cold 👌

Yep, it's brilliant in't it!

I'm down 4.5kg from the start of the year (84 to 79.5) and up from 210w FTP to 246w, with another FTP test this week which should get me 20w (ish) more.

In May last year I did a 5 day lakes trip with 11 rides between New years and the trip in May, needless to say I was not ready. At all.

I've got a 3 day trip in Wales at the weekend and I'm probably in my best shape for years. Once I'm back I'll get losing the rest of the belly fat (another few kg) and start riding outside loads more along with some zwift racing.

@tall_martin believe me I’ve still fitted cake, ice cream, chocolate and spiced rum in my diet. Just cut down main meal portion sizes and been more realistic about how many calories are actually in things. E.g Subway / caramel short bread / pasta / breakfast cereal / sultanas etc. Weighing things I’m eating has been a game changer along with the app I’ve been using. Got into a routine with it I don’t plan to change.

@ta11pau1

Good work that man - I’m loosely aiming at something similar - got a South Wales 3 dayer in June with a mate who is an absolute beast on the climbs. Still almost a stone lighter than me but I’m hoping this year I’ll be closer to him in on the climbs than I’ve ever been. I still think I’ll lose out in power to weight though despite my best efforts.
