Just thought that I'd give a little update on the story given in this thread:

First of all, thank you all again for the advice and info I received.
Happy ending: a few days after I had refunded the buyer the shock DID show up in the post! And - the buyer did send the payment again!
Really happy about this and huge thanks to all involved parties! 😉 🙂
