With all this shit weather can anyone recommend me a turbo trainer for around the £150 mark.
Is there anything I should be looking out for/or avoid?
Cheers
Elite elastogel fluid, quiet, no real tyre wear and just change gear to increase/decrease resistance

How noisy are they? like can you watch TV with them on?
That Elite Elastogel is the one I have. I've watched DVDs in my garage when I'm on it with no problem at all.
I'd move the TV into the garage, otherwise you'll need the windows open in the room in your house you use it in.
Buy a cheese grater instead and rub your ball bag with it furiously, its a lot more enjoyable than a turbo trainer.
is there a massive difference between the ones with elasto gel and ones that don't. I'v seen this one, going for 100 quid and not all that loud. Was thinking I needed a new wheel and turbo tyre, but if I can get away with out with the gel version then the extra 50 quid will even things up.

I got a tacx satori from decathlon for 129 with floor mat front wheel block and a dvd just the job.
With those you have to adjust/push the tyre onto the roller so easy to get it slightly too hard and get tyre wear or other way and get slippage. With a lot of the Elite range your weight pushes the tyre onto the roller hence same tyre wear as if on the road. The Elastogel is basically a larger roller made of a material that makes is a lot quieter.
Downside is that you need to stop the front wheel from moving otherwise you suffer tyre slip.
anyone used the 100 quid decathlon job? Is there much difference?
I would borrow or get a cheap one see if you get on with it. Top tip is cheapo fan for cooling and set it up in front room beside TV for entertainment. Most people give up after a bit because they have it set up in the garage and train stairing at a breeze block wall. Thats how I got mine for free 😉 from mate who didnt use it any more
Rollers here. Don't dismiss'em
😉

One word you've already used "avoid".....
You'll hate it and prefer riding in the rain, it takes a certain mind set to ride a turbo for more than 2 weeks
found this looks pretty good. hear good things about them as well.
Plan is to watch The Wire in the garage...
I got the £100 b'twin decathlon one last week. Hell of a lot quieter than the eBay cheap one it replaced. Tv was much quieter to be able to hear it. Did a training session yesterday with 4 others on various turbos, apart from a fairly expensive Tacx one it was the quietest and not much difference from the Tacx.
Only problem is the resistance is fairly light. Couldn't hold it at max resistance for a 10 minute hill climb interval but certainly hit it and could have done with a bit more on shorter intervals. They had one set up to try in my local decathlon (Edinburgh) and overall I'm happy with it - living in a flat noise was more important than running out of resistance once or twice for less than a minute in a 90 minute session. If it gets an issue I'll just have to hold the brakes on!!!
