[Closed] Looking for a good trail to ride near South Manchester

Get out down the A6 towards Disley, New Mills, Macclesfield?

Yeh Macc Forest is the place to head.

Sort of in the same spot as I'm not long moved to S Manchester. If you get the dark peak trails book you get alot of main routes laid out for you in that area. Hayfield is 13 miles away from me driving and a good spot to start with - relatively close but the A6 is a bag of ring piece so takes 40 mins or so. Marple and Disley are closer in an there is stuff round there too.
The train lines also run out that way so there's options there as well - every hour to Edale and Hope on a Sat (I think) which is the heart of the dark peak. [They don't appear to run through Stockport, though, which would be handy for me].

There must be doorstep stuff as well but I don't know it myself. I rode to Liverpool the other w/end on the trans pennine which is a nice off-road cycle but hardly mountain biking. Going to do a similar style ride down to Telford tomorrow on the sus trans paths.

So basically I know little but hopefully someone more local can post up some ideas.
