So for the first time in what seems like a livetime ive a couple of days off ..(who would work in road haulage at the moment )

I torn between a Marin loop or a Long Mynd .. as ive never been to the latter its peaked my interest and looks worth a play on the hardtail
https://flattyres-mtb.co.uk/route-guides/border-counties-mtb-routes/long-mynd-hard/ Worth a ride ?

Yeah, it's a great place, and that route takes in the best descents IMHO. Tough though, the climbs are both long and steep. 👍

Only done the Long Mynd once but it's a great place to ride. If the weather's looking half decent then go for it.

I’ve used both, if your 160mm bike pedals reasonably well, I’d probably use that.

There's nowt on the mynd that needs an enduro bike - take the hardtail.

Depends on skill level and what you are tackling, surely? I’m not especially skilled, despite my long history of riding a bike and I definitely find that some of the slow-speed wheelie drops and some of the uber-steep rocky sections a little easier on an FS bike than on a hard tail. Also some of the climbs are almost impossible without some kind of rear suspension for me. I do ride some of the less-cycled batches though…
