A mate (who has not returned since the hack) got the following done:-

New rear pads supplied and fitted
2 spokes in rear wheel, wheel trued.
New gear cable supplied and fitted, gears indexed (beautifully)
Front brake adjusted.

Dropped off Friday afternoon, picked up Saturday.

All for a credit crunch busting £21.

Biking Factory Shop, Prestwich. A traditional old bike shop with non of your new fangled nonsense and a mechanic who has been wearing the same overalls since the days when he serviced Wellington bombers.

Haha, that's the sort of mechanic you want! Far more useful than the grunting stoner teenagers more often found in the back of bike shops these days.
