My Genesis Equilibrium has long drop non-series calipers on it, will my normal drop Ultegra fit & work?

The reason I ask is that I fancy swapping all the nice bits off my TCR (then selling the frame & fork) onto the genesis until I can get a nice 853 frame as a one road bike for everything.

No, they won't.

Shimano make a long drop version with the same bits as ultegra called R650.

True, but IME they are not nearly as good. It's worth fitting Swiss Stop pads and the latest Shimano polymer cables.

You maybe able to modify the brakes, I ve seen it done with veloce on a equilibrium. A little bit of careful filling. That said I, using r650s. They are fine.

What needed doing to the veloce brakes to make them fit?

The only reason is I have ordered a Equilibrium frameset and would like to fit my Centaur brakes on it, I have got some R650's from wiggle, but would prefer to fit the Compag stuff.

I can always send the R650's back if they are not needed

It would depend on your rims I think. If they are quite tall you could maybe file the slot on the brake arms to make the pads reach lower. Probably worth bolting the campag brakes on and eyeing up to see if it's possible. Wouldn't go too extreme with the filing though!

Yep as above a small amount of filling to the slot used with archetype rims

Fitting posh cables and blocks wont overcome the fact that your brakes are not deep enough.
