[#11254331]

Does anyone have a gpx of the Loch Ness 360 please? Or even just the south side trail - have got one for the Gt Glen Way.

Thanks!

More or less -- I dodged a couple of options in one area, and by the end took the easier back road into Inverness by Torbreck rather than the full off road option. but it would give you an idea. I'm sure someone might have a better version, or contact Loch Ness 360 themselves..?

Are you planning to ride or walk? If the former then there's an option to skip the official trail just as you head out of Foyers. I recommend it.

And also is the recommendation clockwise or anti clockwise?

Not tried it clockwise but I’d recommend anti.

Anti clockwise. The SLNT would be rubbish heading to Fort Augustus.

I'll dig out a gpx file for you later today - with the Glen Lia diversion.

Interested in this, what's the SLNT like compared to the GGW, similar surface/gradients? I've done a little bit of the GGW (Inverness to Drumnadrochit) and that would have all been fine on a gravel bike.

It's broadly similar to the high level route on the GGW but with a couple of less well surfaced/steeper sections notably on the bit between Foyers and Inverfarigaig and the Fair Haired Lad's Pass.

Another option coming from Fort Augustus is to pick up the Trail of the 7 Lochs and follow that to near Inverness. There's a lot of cross over between the 7LT and SLNT.

The FHLP is by far the roughest section, especially as it has become very washed out. However, the steepest part is quite short so not a major pain. Other than that, some sort of gravel tyre with a tread for muddy bits would cope well. As usual, there will be bits where you'd wish you had a faster tyre and bits where you wish you had an MTB 😁

She did it today - anticlockwise . She wasn’t that taken with the SLNT, but had a good day out. Was ready for her tea when she got home!

Aye she enjoyed it & managed to get a good day. I think she stayed on the low level route on the GGW, as the tops were in cloud.
Need to go do it myself now!

I think sticking on the road past Whitebridge then picking up the the western bit of 7 Lochs Trail is probably a better option although from Inverfarigaig north there isn't much difference between them.

Round about Whitebridge I recall it all got very guddly - the SLNT directs you along a rough track that I found to be blocked by field of cattle (with calves) - not ideal. The section after that (Dell Farm) was quite nice though, and there is some short but nice singletrack to be found around Foyers (though a long climb back up). The road diversion takes you away from the sadly burnt down Boleskine House.

Whitebridge - Dell Farm - Foyers is one of my favourite bits. I've ridden it, run it and even bivvied on it. There's an "honesty cafe" at Dell Farm too, with a kettle for tea/coffee and various snacks.

I'll have to refund the shortcut the old Loch Ness 360 went down, was a bit precipitous but once you were on it was committed. I think was at end of the Dell Farm track, rather than veer right to the old bridge, I'm sure it went left and doooown. Lovely.
