Llandegla is very singlespeed'able (if thats a word). No real climbs to speak of. But i suppose it really depends how fit you are. But if you own one i assume your not a full on lard arse. Therfore you'll be fine.

I'm an occassional SSer.
I enjoy riding my rigid SS round Llandegla, though the haul out of the black section is a bit of a chore. I also enjoy riding my geared HT there.

Up to you really.

Rigid SS here too, take the geared hardtail for a change sometimes but always end up wishing I'd taken the SS.
The only bit I am still to clean on the SS is the last steep bit before the Black rejoins the red at the Offa's Dyke. That's due to my lardarsyness rather than the limatations of the bike though!

Singlespeed is perfectly fine around there. So was the S-works Epic I rode there the other day ๐Ÿ™‚

I rode there last month and I took my 1x9 love/hate and didn't really have any issues and I am not really a race whippet having spent a bit too long at the pie stall in a previous life

Make sure you enjoy those black route table tops on your rigid bike.

It's no problem if you go with the flow, even the log shore is OK as long as you've a good dentist.

John with your front tyre how can it be a tooth rattler on the log shore?

Whilst on Sat I was out on my rigid SS with John, enjoying the trails and dropping myself in it with some Coilair riders, I'll be honest and say I like it on all my bikes, full sussers, hardtails and SS'rs. Only reason I usually end up on the Love/Hate is I"m local and it can get a bit same-ish with a bit of suspension.

Go with your fave bike and just enjoy it, you can always back again with the other.

Thanks for that I now feel like a climbing god after overtaking "The Mighty Higs" on that section on my rigid SS (one of the few times I have managed that) Though Higs usually kills me once its technical.

And Russ was killing me on Sat despite me riding a Ti 456 ๐Ÿ™

Take the ss and see if you can beat the time set by a beardy on a fixie cx bike.

Are we supposed to be impressed? Presumably he gets big air on the jumps?

Nah, its just a pointer to the fact that some full suss 'all mountain' behemoth is overkill.

Maybe but a CX bike is probably more unsuitable for that type of trail - in terms of making the most of jumps and bumps etc

Given the general standard of riding there ,I'd be impreseed by someone riding without stabilisers.
Big air! :0) ffs.

The guy on the cx bike and grumpy bastid Rorschach are possbily two of the fastest and technically able riders I've seen in a long time.

As for the quip about a cx bike, how about the people that try to ride there on dh bikes?

Indeed Jedi, so that makes this thread like all the 'what tyre' and 'what are conditions like' threads irrelevant.
