I'm interested in something a little more capable than my 2010 Boardman FS Pro. As currently configured (decent wheels, flat bars and a fair bit of lightening to be microgram under 26lb) it's a great bike for the chilterns being fast and comfortable
But now it's got a crack in the paint by a weld and I want to range further afield to Wales and also abroad (Tenerife). I have a decent budget if it's required and have been looking at a better linkage frame with a bit more travel. I'd like something that can double as flying round the chilterns (not exactly technical) but be more capable for trips.
I prefer decent aluminium and have pretty much thought of either a turner 5 spot or a Liteville 301. I can run XTR on it, hope/flow/crest wheels and would probably run strong flat bars (I cannot seem to get comfortable on risers). Ideally I'd like it to be no more than the Boardman at 26lb. I'm a large for the 5 spot and XL for the Liteville.
Thoughts?
Cannot comment on 5 Spots or Litevilles (though the latter sound pretty amazing) but I would suggest Blur LT2 (in alloy if you really won't touch carbon, and can easily be built up to 26-27lb) or Ibis Mojo if you're prepared to be convinced that carbon can work. Both bulletproof and huge fun to ride.
My LBS (chelmer cycles) has a Liteville hung on the wall and it looks lovely, really really lovely..
The attention to detail is proper OCD..
And turners are ace too, you won't go far wrong with either tbh..
My Liteville is great, I've had Intense Tracer, BLT and rode lots before deciding on the 301. It's a great trail bike and pedals well for XC rides, I've also had 180mm forks on for the Alps and have done a number of uplift days too. It's just soooo well designed. And has warrantee for race and DH use.
