Love the look of the sb100. Great climbing, good descending in a light 29er package. But at 6k for the entry level complete bike its really pricey. Frame only is 3.3k too.

So anytging with similar geo and travel but cheaper. Doesnt need to be carbon...

Ooh! Whyte s120 sounds interesting. Didnt know about that. The s 150 looks great just might be too much bike for the daily riding around dartmoor.

Ill check out the giant and spesh too, anyone got or tried a jeffsy?

Yes feels very similar to a stumpjumper with a more progressive rear shock

How is a Jeffsy like an sb100? Reckon that whyte might be good though when it’s out

I’m not a fan or orange, but aren’t their segments 29er / short travel / quite slack? Appreciate a single pivot isn’t really the same as vpp.

Joe,

They offer good vfm, but yea not really in the same ball park. I think a bkur would probably still be too pricey. By the time it has gx and a pike its price has gone stratospheric!

Orange 4 could be a shout, never been sure about orange design though really

Orbea, my lbs is doing them now, bloody lovely, and selling loads of them.

Both the Occam and Rallon are stunning, and affordable.

Intense? Since they've gone direct sales the price is much more palatable. Sniper is their xc fs bike, £4300 gets a bling 23lb build

I too love the yeti, been looking at that and a blur for a while.   The blur has lower priced builds but I think the HA is a bit steep for general riding and 100 fork not quite enough.  There is a trail blur with 110 fork and dropper but price back in line with sb100.  I too am waiting for the Whyte s120, surprising nothing on their website.    Oh  also SC Tallboy also an option.    I’ll  watch this thread with interest.

Just bought a 2017 Tallboy C, around 2400 GBP with 1x12, Race Face Kit and Rythym 120mm forks, I think its a bargain. The mk3 version I have is the current frame geo so if you don't mind an 18 month old paint job there's bargains to be had?

Also picked up a Santa Cruz Tallboy frame reccently. Think they are probably a bit out of fashion as seem to be a few deals on them around.  I assume there will be a new model coming next year. Picked up a new CC frame for Less than half the UK retail price from a shop In Spain.
