Always used Specialized road and MTB shoes because they fit my widish feet well. But had both a road pair, and a pair of Specialzied Rime MTB shoes fail with the BOA system, repaired the BOA on the Rime's and failed again.
<span style="font-size: 0.8rem;">Anyone got a recommendations for similar, need to be light, good bikepacking shoes, so comfy to walk and spend all day riding in?</span>

I love my Rimes. Just get the version with velcro straps and no Boa.
I did think about that, but can't actually seem to find a pair in 44, few places on Google, all come up as sold out?
That's a shame, I took ages to find a shoe that suited me before I came upon the Rime.
A new boa dial costs £6 if memory serves me correctly . Hardly worth throwing a good pair of shoes away for the sake of that .
I have replaced the BOA once, and it went again within 2 rides, that was done under supervision of bike shop that sold it. Shame as they are most comfortable shoes (for me) out there
2FO maybe? I’ve had two pairs (laced and boa versions) and they’re super comfy...
Don’t get 2fo, I have a pair not used bloody terrible, not wide enough for wide feet, almost crippled me...

Scud you must be doing something wrong . Boa dials are used on lots of shoes these days and they are very reliable as long as you don't turn them the wrong way and tangle the cable or abuse them in some other way .
If your feet fit the Rime's they will fit the 2FO as well. Although like most Spec shoes, I tend to upsize. Same with the 2FO.
You can get the ClipLite version in a lace as well if you don't want Boa.
Lifetime warranty on those Boa's.

I've had my rimes for 4 years with no issues with the boa's. Can't see how you are doing something wrong as they only work in one way.. Perhaps just unlucky as 2 rides is a bit odd..

As above two risdes seems very odd. Ive both lake and Spesh shoes with boa and they just work with no issues
Like raggatip says lifetime warranty, drop them an email, new ones in post the next day, that’s what happened to me with a faulty set, but as most guys have said, generally no issues, I have had newmerous ones with just one failure
Thanks all, will email BOA, i love the shoes and weirdly have two sets of road shoes where BOA has lasted for over 5000 miles fine on Spec shoes.
On the Rime, it wasn't the actual BOA dial that went, it was the plastic strip that is sewn into the strap that the dial sits on that snapped.
