Are there any recommendations for a cheapish lightweight lock that can be carried on rides and used outside cafes etc. Ok it won't stop somebody tooled up but equally nobody can just ride off!!

Thanks

Decent padlock thru the chainring? About as good as you will get - combine it with a basic cable loop for locking to things

You can get wire retractable cafe locks with a combination fastner, try roadie shops.

I use one of these as a cake stop lock.

If you want to take phots of yourself waving it around and cause outrage I spotted that Knog also do one.

I use something similar to that ABUS lock. Got it from an outdoor shop.

Won't stop a determined thief, but enough to stop a grab and run while you nip into a loo or a shop.

I use one I got free with a Magazine. Very small and light and probably wouldn't stop anybody for more than a few seconds though but feels better than nothing.

I also make a Monkey puzzle using my helmet straps and jacket. Helmet clipped through frame and wheel, jacket tied over the top and round something etc.

Enough to give me enough time to drop cake and rescue my bike should a hoodie go near it.

I've used re-usable cable ties before. the theory being that the thief dosn't see it, pile of bikes fall over and we rush out if the cafe. Never been tested though, my bike must not be appealing enough.
