Does anyone actually ride a mountain bike on here?

I'm beginning to wonder than too. A lot of people have also got new mountain bikes, although they probably never use them as almost everyone has converted to the darkside.

I have a mountain bike, but it's got gears, suspension and comes from a mainstream manufacturer.

Hang on a minute...have I just jumped on a new niche?

BMX's are allowed in mtb, as they can be ridden off road, and were originally designed to do so.

That, and they are fun.

Road bikes just aren't.
🙂

Good point. What did happen to ATB's?

I blame CRC and their delivery times of one, maybe two days.

I've got a mountain bike, but I ride it on the road.
I've got a road bike which I ride off road through Grizedale forest.
I usually ride my bmx across football pitches and other grassy playing fields.

Has your mind melted yet?!?!

Like a niche paradox.

Did that bloke on the racer not see the massive muddy puddle or something?

AND, where are their helmets?

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!

You are succumbing to peer-group pressure from this forum - people ducking out to a road bike because it is easier to ride one fast than it is to ride a mountain bike fast - which requires a higher degree of fitness.

Depends where you ride it. If its through Grizedale Forest like I do, then its harder to ride a road bike fast. Still good fun overtaking all the trail centre warriors on their 6inch travel mtb's though.

Do you see more fat mountain bikers or roadies?

thisisnotaspoon, yesterday, in defence of overbiked commuters:

HAHAHAHHAAAAAAA

LETS ALL LAUGH ATT HE POOR PEOPLE WHO ONLY HAVE ONE BIKE

Don't they know you're only allowed to commute on a flat bared road bike and the maximum allowable groupset is 105?

There's me thinking that you were a genuine, one biked hardy soul, the stuff of myths, when men were men, and women were Melinda Messenger.

Uncroyable, as the roadies would say.

I'm ok then my commuter is a flat barred road bike with 105 groupset. Phew glad I got away with that one 😆

My mountain bike on the other hand lives in the Kitchen

Haha, you need to re-tune your irony detection radar!

On the other hand my entire fleet/shed/hareem/flock probably cost less than the shocker mentioned in the other thread, and I only bought my first £1000+ bike a fortnight ago.

But I do have a dedicated bike for commuting.

I live in an area with too much traffic for my liking but some woods to mess about in, the darkside is not an attractive option as I don't see holding traffic up as much fun.

On a visit to Dorset last year, I did get the feeling with all those lovely rolling hills and chocolate box villages that areas like that are a bit of a 'road bikers nirvana', if I lived somewhere like that I'd be tempted. 😉

Perhaps those turning to the Darkside have heard about the UNLIMITED POWER!

I have one bike, it's a mountain bike. I ride it on roads, to get to the woods.

Why are my squad of clones pointing their guns at me?
