After my last post about my aging MTB it was suggested I go for another 29er and in s/s flavour.
I thought I'd find what I wanted straight away, but I can't find many light but cheap frames. A straight forward alloy frame with horizontal ends. Not steel, no EBB, no hangers and no extra brazings.
Any pointers.
Simple like a Giant XTC or Kinesis frame
On-one Scandal
Scandal here too, great bike for the money

actual go for a scandal , I've had three and they were ace bikes for the money.
Yep! Scandal. Lot's of mates have them and I do!
Ah the clue was in the words 'swap out'.
I would recommend the older style scandal with the horizontal dropouts. Mine has been superb as a single speed and as a geared bike and is totally bomb proof.
Welcome back into the fold MrOldgit.
Keep it simple, and light, no need to spend buckets of money on it neithers.
Is there a clapping smilie out there???
Just get a used Kona Unit 29er. I did, off here, and it has been magnificent. Why not steel? Mine has rigid carbon forks and weighs about 24lbs. Honestly, you'd love it.
I'd say Scandal, it's gone back up in price still discounted out on mine again in a bit ๐
