How do i open the head unit on my dx 1000(ish) lumen jobbie? Unscrewed bezel and glass with o ring come out, removed the mount but internals still solid, dont want to force anything, does the reflector unscrew? I kind of expected the internals to just fall out. I was going to better waterproof the wiring as i noticed how much gukn was collecting in and around the vent holes. This looks like it, although its a few years older

Just had a look at 2 similar light bodies I have here and nothing holding the internals in other than the tension on the battery lead. Have you tried pushing the lead through gently? IIRC it's a combination of pushing the lead and trying to help the internals out..
On both of mine the reflectors are loose.
Ah OK, the cable is fairly slack and no give in the reflector, so i guess could have been glued or just jammed/stuck over time. Tempting to give it a whack, see if anything moves, however there is a risk of creating a new problem 😉
