[#2290619]

so i dropped my Hope charger on the garage floor and completely sheared the top plastic pin off the 3 pin plug. What does this pin do ? will it still work without it ? is it less safe ?

thanks

It won't go in the socket without it I don't think
Shove a screwdriver in the top hole ๐Ÿ˜‰

Normally two functions:

Earth pin (redundant on the charger due to design)

Opens the safety tabs on the socket which are there to stop little-one getting electrocuted

Careful use of a non-metallic prodder you can push the tab in the earth hole on the socket and the charger can be pushed in

Did something similar years back, only used that socket for the charger so pushed the broken piece in and everything was fine and dandy again.

Use one of those double socket block things. Poke something in the top hole on the double socket, plug your charger into that and just leave in on there, then you can plug it into the mains without poking around in a live socket
