Got mine without decals, didn't pull the trigger as I didn't like the colorway etc. Loving those dymag stickers though northwind, how big are they? Marcheseni would be good too....

Brianp - they aren't far off 2.5" across the widest part of the sidewall. Definitely fatter than they were on my 719's.

You're just jealous because my rims will more awesome than yours. The stickers will increase the stiffness by 2.2%, I'll be an extra 6.4% faster with them and and 11.2% more rad to the gnar.

In the process of - LBS has all the gubbins, but they're a bit busy and I'm a relaxed customer 🙂

For anyone over 13, that is utterly utterly tragic

Funny guy!

Thanks Yetiman, 2.5" sounds just right for my Fargo with Fox forks for now and then later when Rooster frame arrives with what ever the best 3" tyre is by then.

At checkout for the 27mm wide hookless carbon rim there is the option of either all mountain or cross country but the description does not show the difference or mention either or.
Anyone know the difference?

Hi bolt, just an idea on how they feel on the lefty.
My SLRs are the lightest but they're stiff and track well. I thought about these rims on dt 240s but don't want to end up with a flexy mess killing the front end feel.

My idea is to pop 650s in the 2012 26er frame - I love that frame 🙂

Hi, they seem plenty stiff enough on the 29er even built with dt revs through some pretty rocky stuff this morning,.
Am running tubeless with 26 psi in the front on bontrage xr1 team issue tyres for info.

Should build up even stiffer in 650b.

Probably very similiar to the am vs dh 33mm ones- same mould and shape but different layup/density (or somesuch, I know nowt about how it actually works). So you'll get a lighter but less strong option.

I actually agree with you for once

I might put Mavic 117 stickers on mine.

How does it work with the customs clearance process? My rims have been with UK customs for over a week according to the tracking, but I haven't received any communication from them.

Mine were with customs for around two weeks for some reason, i know some people have had them much sooner though.

Yeah, mine sat for a week this time, first one went through in a day I think. It's quite frustrating, you end up pretty cut off from the process but they did come

(and now, after complaining about the wait, they're sitting in the garage waiting for me to sort out the hubs!)

Do light bike do the deeper 29er rim ?....Wanting similar to ENVE's depth of 31 and 30 wide.

Ive checked their site and can only find the 27 outer with a 24mm depth hookless - Is that the deepest rim they do?

As far as I'm aware they only offer the 27mm, which are 24mm deep, and the 35mm like mine which are 25mm deep.

Just picked mine up from the Lbs. They were supposed to have been built with supercomps but the builder told me they had been built with comps. Then turned out they were actually built with Sapim dbs, identical spec to comps apparently. Price was supposed to be 340 with supercomps, they have offered to rebuild them or I can have them as is for 310. What to do? Slightly annoyed Tbh but no one died so hey ho. Any opinions on whether the difference whilst riding will be noticeable?

Weight is 1785g btw, 955 rear and 830 front

Several varieties of Sapim double butted spokes. If they are D-Lights, then I would stick with those as they are similar to supercomps.

Race, Force or Strong are all below that level and the weight will increase quite a bit.

Pretty sure they said Sapim Race DBs, same spec as DT comps?

According to the claimed weights a Race is a little lighter than a Comp for equivalent spec (there's a lighter weight Comp as well, weirdly- a 2.0 and a 1.8)

Got any more claimed weights at your fingertips northwind? Any idea how much weight I could expect to save per 32h 29er wheel going from Sapim Race to supercomps? Feel free to tell me to do one!

Sure, let me google that for you 😉 I've only got 26 inch weights here though because I am obsolete.

I ****in hate it when bike shops pull this crap.

It's not what you asked for. Make em do it again. One of the reasons I do my own spannering in these days.

My LBS built my 35mm 29er rims last week but I forgot to ask them to weigh them before fitting the tyres and discs off my old wheels. Doh! 32H, Pro2 Evo hubs and Super Comp spokes with alloy nipples. I would be happy with sub 1700g, as I was after a robust and stiff build rather than light.

As far as I can tell the difference between alloy and brass nipples is 40-50g and Comps and Supercomps 50-60 for the pair so as mine came in just under 1800g I would think a bit under 1700 would be right for yours. Think I'm going to have the LBS rebuild mine with Supercomps

Aye davo, my optimistic fag packet calculations came in at around 1650g if the rims were at the lower end of the LB quoted weight range, but they are probably closer to 1700. Not much more than a 100g saving over my alu Havens, but they are a hell of a lot stiffer, and 1700g is still a pretty decent weight for a burly 35mm 32h 29er wheelset considering Hope’s new 29er Enduro wheels (and Pro2 Flows) are the best part of 2kg. Since building the wheels I’ve only ridden them at Glentress and Inners, but I’ll be heading up my local hill on Sunday morning where they will be treated to a right good thrashing on fast rock steps, drainage bars, and the longest rock garden in the area where many a rim has been dented and bent. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the LB rims fair over the coming months.

I’d probably ask for a rebuild to the requested specification if I was in the same position as you, but good luck with the wheels whatever you decide to do.

Cheers Yetiman. How do yours feel, roll well?

Unlucky Kimbers, won't get mine rebuilt until next week, maybe we'll both have them in time for the QECP enduro.

Had an email from Katrin saying my 35mm's will be shipped this week. I'm not expecting them anytime soon though - it sounds like Coventry customs are up to their necks in Light Bicycle rims atm 😀

I'm ordering a 35mm wide carbon rim to go on a Dt240 hub, any reason not to use Sapim Cx ray spokes?

Owner of the LBS has just phoned before I had a chance to call them, he said they want to rebuild the wheels as they're not what I specced and it will just niggle at me otherwise (he's right about that!) Also said it's fine to ride them as is until the Supercomps come in so can't say fairer than that, A* for customer service for Quest Adventure in Worthing

That's very cool Daveosaurus (ps, think they may read STW?)

Seems like the main reason not to go cx-rays, is lasers- same spoke without the aero forging, which I'm not convinced adds anything.

Just paid £27.25 VAT and handling charges to the Post Office so should be getting my 35mm hookless 29" any day now.
I'm not obsessing about the lightest spokes. I've done that in the past and it usually costs in less reliability. So no skinny spokes and brass nipples on the back wheel.
Any feedback or problems with hookless burping air?

I've got the 35mm hookless 29er am rims, and they came in at 420g each. They're built up by Cycleworks leatherhead onto hope hubs.
Well, I spent 4 days in sospel kicking the shit out of them on some stupid rocky trails and they're fine. Odd scratch and knick in the lacquer, but that's it. Super stiff, made a real difference ploughing rock gardens.

After waiting for a repeat order of the correct length super comps to arrive from Germany, I'll have my grubby mitts on my pro2 35mm supercomp with brass nipples next week. I'll post up the weights when I get them.

I'm not expecting a large weight saving over the excellent maxlight 29er wheels I'm currently using, maybe 150g at best, but stiffness and strength will be much greater, and the tyre profile should be stupendously good.

Mounted the front tyre on mine earlier, tubed for now, will give tubeless another go once they've been rebuilt. Bloody tight getting a Hans Dampf on which is a good thing in my eyes given the lack of bead and shallow sidewall. Difference in width isn't as pronounced as I'd expected, volume wise hard to see with the bike in the garage. Will sort the rear tomorrow and post some pictures up.
