Yes, the footprint is definitely bigger - I'm now running a 2.0" Specialized Storm Control on the back and it seems almost as wide as the 2.35" Kenda was on my old wheels. The Baron on the front is definitely wider than when it was on the old wheel. I'm sure there is more grip.
The complete wheel/tyre combo is so much lighter (or is it because it's stiffer?) that I've had to change my fork settings (soften them) to get the same feel - and I'm pretty sure that's helping with grip too.
Do it, IME you won't regret it!!
What valves are people using? The long (55mm?) stans ones perhaps? I assume the regular 35mm ones are too short?
Hopefully I'll get my rims this week, looks like parcel force have them in the UK now.

They're 52mm long and work/fit perfectly etc.

My LB 26" 33mm wide DH Rims turned up today and they look very nice. The corresponding Hope hubs turned up last week so it time to get them built!
Was going to order spokes and nipples myself however there is only 10c difference once I've included shipping so I'm going to leave it to the wheel builder to make sure I don't cock up measuring to check the ERD is correct! How do you measure ERD is you don't have old spokes and nipples lying around (a la Sheldon Brown method)?!
Looking forward to getting them on the V10 and smashing them in to some rocks and seeing if they are strong enough to take to Whistler this year!
how are the hookless versions? i have the original clincher versions and had a few issues with the tyre being loose on the bead, a few layers of yellow tape sorted that ok. considering getting the 35mm 29er version, can i get away with lower tyre pressures? planning a new singular swift build with a knard up front on 35mm rim, think it'll just about work, if not, trusty RaRa 2.4 ive kept in stock

I ordered my wheels from them on the 6th March and they arrived on the 27th.
That's not bad considering they were out of stock on the hubs at the time which delayed things, then had to build and ship them.The wheels are great, they ride amazingly.
I used duct tape and stans valves to set up tubeless. They inflated and held pressure perfectly,even without fluid!The only problems i had was that the freehub was pushing up against the bearings and after inspection i noticed there was a washer/spacer missing between hub bearing and freehub body.
The rear adapter for the axle is also slightly different from my other hope wheels and doesnt allow the xx1 cassette to sit properly on the freehub.
I think it may be a aftermarket piece.If you are running a 142x12 rear axle setup its a different end cap for xx1 driver...sounds like you have a standard 142x12 shimano 9/10 speed end cap

They seem very well made.
Took receipt of mine yesterday. They are as well built as any other carbon I've seen. Bloomin' massive too.
I'm moist with anticipation.

Mine have arrived today! Took 9 days to clear customs 🙁
Hopefully they'll get built next week and I'll finally be able to finish off the build on my new Burner.
Also, Works Components have just listed their tapered steerer angleset, so all I need now is a set of Pikes and a 15mm adaptor for my hubs and...

Thanks for all the info on these. Having a serious think about some of the LB hookless XC rims (27mm wide, 365g +\- 15g). Spoke to Nancy at LB on the livechat and she was very helpful. Said the 3k actually comes in a bit lighter than UD.
Currently on 29er Crests / 32H / 3 cross / Revs. No problems with them and they are really nice and light but I'd like to try something with less lateral flex at a similar weight - hence the interest in carbon.... Thinking about using 2 cross (with revs) for these - anyone tried that?

I’ve just bought a pair of 30mm hookless 29er rims for my new wheel build. They are 32H, to fit my existing Pro2 Evo hubs, so it won’t be the lightest of builds, but they should still be lighter than my alu Easton Havens, with a useful increase in stiffness and width.

I didn't measure the ERD (same rims), but all my spokes, with AM Classic hubs) came up too short by a couple of mm, so either the ERD is wrong or the literature that comes with the hubs was wrong.
My old one seemed a little over the quoted ERD too. Though I can't rule out the possibility I measured the old rim wrong to be fair! I'm waiting for the rims to arrive before ordering spokes etc.
Who knows, customs might actually do something about them some time.

Just ordered a pair of 35mm 420g ones (I really like lightweight wheels but the wide rims seem like a great idea, so willing to add a bit of bloat in exchange for tyre profile)
*they better wash their hands first.
must admit my 650b 35mm hookless rims cant come soon enough, ive got my hubs ready to go, shop on standby to build them, but waiting on rims before they can get spokes, fingers crossed ill get them before UKGE and EWS next month!

Just built a pair of the hookless xc 29r rims
I worked the ERD out to be 595.5mm which would explain the short spokes when the quoted is 592mm.
calculated spoke lengths seemed spot on.
For info:
The front built with a lefty hub, dt revs and alloy nipples (with rim strip) was 648g
The rear on Oem dt 240s was 800g
1450g total
Interesting, that makes sense! I've not died yet, so CBA to rebuild mine, would've made lacing them somewhat easier though!
I specifically asked for some light rims - mine came to 355 and 356g, whole wheelset with American Classic hubs (XD body), Revs and alu nips was 1370g.
Cheers for the info Bolt, that’s a pretty decent weight. I’m aiming for 1650g for my AM build. My current wheels are just over 1800g so not a huge saving but they’ll be a lot stiffer, and a good bit wider. How long is the valve on your rim strips? I’m thinking I might need to buy extra-long ones to replace my standard No-tubes valves due to the extra depth of the LB rims.
I used DT Swiss ones and they were fine.

I measured the 35mm 29er ERD as 584mm when ours arrived last week. Waiting on spokes now we've ordered them.
First impressions were nicely finished and laterally very stiff.
I was really impressed when I went to stress mine during building - put the hub on the floor leant on the rim and... nothing. No movement, no spokes unwinding slightly.
Well it seems I have the customs charge letter but no parcel, whatever that means?!
That you have to pay the charges before they release the parcel... What else do you expect?
By the way, just changed to summer tyres on my LB rims and the combination of the deep rims and wider profile on the tyres means that the ratchet straps on the wheel trays of my bike-rack won't now lock in place.
Bungee straps have now been bought, small price to pay for the extra volume / lightness / stiffness.
2.3" Butcher Control on the front and 2.3" Purgatory Control on the rear btw.

Scienceofficer: Thanks. The drawing I found online quotes 589mm for ERD of the 29er/35mm. Did you include the nipple heads?
I always just googled for spoke lengths ghetto style before but I've found, with ali nips especially, the spokes have to be bang on (if you don't want the nipple heads to fail later due to not being supported by the spoke) so did some looking up on correct ERD measurement...I'm sure everyone except me does it properly but just found this vid and might be helpful in case anyone doesn't know:

what nipple lengths are people using? LB seem to use 14mm for their own builds.
