Just on the off chance does anyone know where I could buy a replacement set of Keys for the Lidl Roof bars which were on sale last summer. I bought my self a nice thule 591 carrier and went to install the bars only to find the shed fairy has hidden them. 🙁

The lock has M343 stamped on the barrel.

Any help would be appreciated before my realises I need to buy new Bars and boots my arse.

Try this guy: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THULE-HALFORDS-CYCLE-RACK-SKI-RACK-ROOF-RACK-ROOF-BOX-KEYS-CUT-TO-CODE-/280952839252?

Got a key for a random, old, no name roof rack my dad gave a few years ago from him with just the lock code.

Have you tried a screwdriver or similar? The locks are often more decorative than anything truy functional. Works fine on the ones I just took off my transporter.

just remembered, if it's the silver aluminium T-slot bars then you are in for disappointment if hoping to use the T slot fixings on the Thule bike rack as they won't fit.

Your best bet is the black curved fixing but the bars might be too thick for those.

Sorry!

I got spare keys for our roof box by emailing a close up pic if the lock to a place that sells keys on EBay.
Just search for spare keys, there's a few sellers.

My 591 works a treat with these bars; I use the curved clamps rather than the T bolts as Andy says, they don't fit.

Apparently Roof bolts do work however.

I nearly bought a set of Atera bars the other day, but these Lidl ones work well, apart from the whistle, and only cost £25.....

The curved ones do fit? I had it in my head the bars were a bit too thick but it was a while ago. That's good news for the OP. I also had trouble with my cars roof rails so ended up back on Thule bars.

Not sure I would use roof bolts without knowing they were the right strength as they are often poor quality. Possibly safer to file down the Thule t bolts.

Andy

Yup the curved brackets work perfectly. Really solid connection.
