[#1800820]

just wondering how your all running your sovereigns for uk riding?
im thinking straight swap of all my bits off current bike: triple chainring, pikes, formula oros, hope pros on 717's etc.
Seen the majority with 9x1 or ss but need it to be an allrounder, ie. old school xc through to dh.
lets see some pics, get some thoughts etc.

That's mine. It's running on-

Pike 454 Airs
Full XT with a triple (though I'm swapping to XT 1x10)
XT discs with 185 rotors
Hope Pro2s on Stans Flows (usually with Maxxis or Schwalbe tubeless tyres)
Race Face Diabolus cockpit (with high rise bars), Deus seatpost, Deus headset and Evolve cranks.
XTR pedals

The only part I don't like is the Deus headset which is shot now anyway so is getting swapped for Kings.

I reckon your build shout be great for it.

Whats going on with those wheels? They look like you've stuck cotton wool on them!

Snow! We were just below it on the valley floor of home, but heading up the hill it was waist deep.

Won't 717's be a bit narrow for the sort of tyres such a frame deserves?

A touch. But I did have a set of X317s as a set of spare wheels that were fine around trail centres.

Pike 454's
819'S on Kings Hubs
XT groupset running a double
Had to build 6 different long travel hardtails to get to this point and realise that it fits all my needs for riding.
Only bugger is I need a seat shim and both it and the hanger are very hard to get - Luke do you know where?

'10 Thors
Stans Arch
Rohloff
Avid elixirs
and now 2.4 Nobby Nics

Out of interest anyone using a 203mm disc on the back? I know it is recommneded as 185 max but need a 203 for Hope V2s

Running 2010 Thors
Stans flow on Hope 2
SLX double though thinking of removing the 22T
Hayes stroker carbons
2.2 Conti Rubber Queens
Bike has changed slightly since the pic was taken, now running a carbon fizik gobi as the sdg was like sitting on a brick.

Btw ignore the rubbishy camera phone pic, not so good with white on a sunny day.

The mech hanger thing puzzles me- have you spoken to Silverfish? Otherwise it might be time for a whole new dropout from a new Sov.

Silverfish were as useful as an underwater hairdryer - mailed them three times and no reply. Want the hanger just in case but really need the shim as the current one is so worn the post is now rotating. As the seat tube is a rare size @ 32.6 nothing generic is available.

USE do a 32.6-27.2mm shim and a 32.4mm-31.6mm shim that I find works well.

I've got the tech drawings of the shim if you wanted to get one machined.

Cheers Luke had seen the USE one and wondered whether it was a runner. Have tried the drawings with a local machine shop who were able to do it for the sum of £120 😯
