You got that thing going again Al?
Saw a dude riding one of these fat fellas up in Aviemore. What's the thinking? Fashion or function?
Fun[s]ction[/s].
How do they ride?
looks bouncy and slow. Funnily enough like a Harley!!!
Not especially slow, more unstoppable - they happily trundle over stuff without noticing, like slippery tree roots and the like. I've just built a new demo one for the shop:

........And definatley not slow.

I WANT ONE. NOW.
BRING IT TO ME MR COOPER.
Are you trying to hypnotise me via the Internet?
Stu...I wish...and less of "that thing" please ๐ก
Its working isn't it Mr COOPER.....
4th UK Fatbike meeting is likely gonna be in East Lothian in April 2013. Think you'll have yours sorted by then Al?
Yes we do, southends not that far away ๐ I could do the condom and sewage slalom while enjoying the view of the oil refinery....
Khani, my thinking precisely...will be more fun this winter than riding those sloppy trails from your place eh? ๐
I'm resisting...you buy one and I'll have a go ๐
Deal...FFS don't tell your/my missus you wanna have a go on my fattie.... ๐ฟ
๐ she already knows you're a [s]Bad influence[/s] pervert....
Sandman gobi in ss mode
Tis 1x6 now with 32 and the top 6 cogs off the block for winter- just trying to pick up a seat tube / direct mounted mounted chain keeper for the front.
Wuld like to rebuild the wheels with narrower lighter rims at some point would be alot les unweildy ๐ floats great in snaw though
I've just bought a fat frameset and tyres ๐ Just need to decide which rims to go for, either Large Marge's (more expensive option) or narrower trailtech's (a good bit cheaper), but will the trailtech's be too narrow ๐
Oh and does anybody know if you can get a 170mm Hope hub in the UK? All the links I find are for US ebay shops.
@drofluf, it's the 47mm wide SL's I'm looking at.
These ones
if i could find a reasonable 165 rear hub that isnt costing a fortune then id build up a pair of those trailtechs and some nates for general usage and keep the current wheelset for when im going floating.
100mm arctic cycles on ringle rear and XT front with larry and endo combo + surly tubes = 12lbs !
whole bike weighs 32lbs so go figure.

Haven't tried them but they seem to get a thumbsup here on the Fatbike forum of MTBR. The advice there is usually pretty sound.
@ trail rat, Oof, that's quite lardy ๐
I'm in Speyside, Moray so hoping to get decent time on the snow, hence why I'm fretting over rim choice, do I go for something wider for when the snow's on the ground or narrower which should be better for most of the year. It's Nate tyres I've gone for if that makes any difference.
even on 47s itll be better than a normal MTB or even those 3inch gazzaloddis people were trying to bodge into kinda fat bikes....
look at shaggys sandman for inspiration - it was down to 27lbs iirc . not sure what his on-one is ....
look on his dazeoftundra blog.
im sure he has fairly narrow rims on - and what he doesnt know about snow bikes im sure you could write on the back of a 5 pence piece in felt tip
