Off on my first Alps trip next week and planning on doing a bit of general trail riding rather than full on DH. Bought the Dirt mags with the OTA articles and also have my IGN map at the ready. Apart from the Col de Coux into Champery, I'm also fancying a ride up to Avoriaz from Morzine and then back down the other side. There are two routes which take my fancy (1) being to Morzinette and pushing up to the Col du Pic a Talon and riding back down into Morzine or (2), a slightly longer rouyte taking in le Plan Brasy.

I just wondered if anyone had ridden either of these and had any comments or recommendations ie; do/don't do them.

Ta, Dan.

check lift opening times before leaving each valley! it's pretty early season and they sometimes have a mind of their own.

that's if you're using lifts of course.

if not then you are a hardman. i've done some of the road passes (on road bike) and there's a hell of a lot of climbing involved getting over these things!
