No, not the bottom variety, but the wind today in the dales. Seemed like I was going into it for the entire (circular) ride. ๐Ÿ˜

'dutch hill'

some days you could ride in a figure of eight and have a headwind all the way ๐Ÿ™

I would rather ride in heavy rain than against the wind... hate it.

+1 for preferring to heavy rain to strong winds. Has to be said, though, I felt almost godlike on the way home with 20mph winds behind me!

Went out on the road bike today and both climbs were into the wind, it was not fun (and my Garmin GPS fell off and got run over), not the best of rides.

What you really need is a strong headwind, heavy rain, a high tide and a storm surge so that the when the sea crashes into the harbour wall it goes 15ft in the air, gets picked up by the wind and blow across the road and into your face.
Three miles along the prom into a force seven is not fun. The rain comes horizontally from France and the first thing the weather hits is me.
After that particularly memorable commute my mother phoned me to tell me that she had just read that Bournemouth has the best climate in Britain.
I expressed my doubt ๐Ÿ˜•

The same wind was up around Loch Rannoch today too. Thought I'd be fine with a couple of gels and possibly a snack at the cafe in Kinloch Rannoch. When I got there a 'we closed in January sign' greeted me. Solo riding in that sort of wind MUST do you some good. Thats what I kept telling myself anyway.

Pete - I presume the cafe will re-open next week given it's Easter?

Looked like a ghost town. Even the big hotel across the road had a big sign proclaiming 'Under New Management'

I was up in the dales too, cold on the ears forgot my Aldi scalp thingy.

On the way back was coming from the side, felt like rigging up a sail.

I bloody hate it. Wind is a cruel mistress to tired legs.

I rode yesterday in the Peaks and had a fantastic ride. Rode my local loop on the edge of Sheffield today and it was tough. Hard work riding into a headwind, almost getting blown sideways in places and having the wind dictate lines. Grrrrrrr.

Grumbled to myself most of the way round.

Yeah, me too, 80 miles odd on the road in the Peak yesterday, mostly either uphill or into a headwind or both, then to cap it all off, some mountain biker came tearing off the bottom of the Shooting Cabin - almost fell over in his haste to try and rip my legs off - and sat on my rear wheel for half of my final climb up the big zig-zag. Unlucky mate, even a properly broken 'roadie' can still out-climb a mountain bike on tarmac, no pub bragging for you then ๐Ÿ˜‰

A couple of years ago I was struggling to pedal down the hills on the East Coast of Harris.

I was almost ready to give up on SS, but the ride back on the West side with the wind behind me and barely having to pedal on the uphills made up for it.

50 miles this morning into the wind on tired legs

couple of the boys went pop - despite me n another lad doing most of the towing !

similar yesterday in the TT - the climb into the headwind was soul destroying but cranking up to 75kph on the flat with a tail wind was epic

Oh yeah..

Did the Hayfield/Jacobs ladder/Hollins Cross/Rushop Edge/Mt Famine route yesterday, seemed like there was a headwind from every sodding direction!

Just been out for a little 23 mile pootle on the roadie bike just to stretch the cramps out of my legs from yesterday.
